No civilization is created in a vacuum, and every civilization inherits its past. The golden civilization of Islam, which flourished during the Abbasid Caliphate, was specifically formed in connection with its neighboring civilizations, including the Iranian civilization of the Sasanian era. The Zoroastrian aristocracy has always been known in the history of Iranian civilization as cultural elites and standard-bearers of science and knowledge. In the Sasanian era, the power of this elite force reached its highest point, and due to global events such as the closure of scientific schools in the Eastern Roman Empire, the Iranian world, led by the Zoroastrian elite, became more and more the focus of scientific discussions in the civilized world. The present study, using a library method and historical analysis, examines the role of Zoroastrian priests in the transmission of the two fields of medical and astronomical knowledge to the Islamic world. The findings of the research show that the dissolution of the Sasanian regime took the cultural achievements of the Zoroastrians out of the closed circle of the priests and made the scientific achievements of the past the basis for new developments. Among them, two fields of knowledge were able to benefit from the Zoroastrian heritage more than any other: first, medical knowledge, which is linked to the rich tradition of Jundishapur, and second, astronomy, which transferred a valuable legacy from Sasanian observatories and ziji to the Islamic world. Zoroastrian priests not only acted as preservers and guardians of these sciences, but also played an active role in the transfer and enrichment of these sciences in Islamic civilization by being present in scientific centers and translating texts.
